About Us

Verity Wills MSc DC LRCC

Verity knew from a young age that chiropractic was the career for her and graduated in 2002, having studied a Masters degree in Chiropractic at the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic.

Her post graduate studies have mainly focused on ante natal and post natal treatment and on care of the paediatric and infant patient. Recently she was accepted by the Pelvic Girdle Partnership as a recommended practitioner in the treatment of Pelvic Girdle Pain.

She started studying Sacro-Occipital Technique in her final year of college and received her advanced certification in 2006. Since this time she has regularly been invited to lecture and assist in the teaching of SOT to fellow practitioners.

Martin Storr MSc DC MRCC

As a result of his previous career in business management and as a keen rugby player in his youth, like a lot of desk bound workers Martin was used to visiting his chiropractor. So impressed was he with the results of his treatment that at an opportune moment, he decided to hang up his management hat and study to become a chiropractor. Qualifying in 1998, he has since successfully run a large clinic involving many different disciplines. Now, following its sale in 2012 he has elected to adopt a more relaxed but studied approach to clinical practice.

From the beginning, under the guidance of his previous chiropractor, Martin trained in Sacro-Occipital Technique, quickly gaining his advanced qualification in 2002 and has since studied in diverse areas such as the influence of the bite in human motor function and adopted a wider perspective of human health, studying with the Institute of Functional Medicine.

Both chiropractors at Hook Chiropractors use a variety of skills and techniques to help their patients. There is no "one solution fits all" approach and we take every individual need into account. One of the main techniques we use in practice is known as Sacro-Occipital Technique (SOT) (www.sotoeurope.org). This helps us to identify the primary origin of your complaint, whatever it may be. In most cases the trigger is not immediately obvious and can vary widely e.g a bite problem, dietary issues, stress or old injuries that have never fully healed.

Whilst primarily of diagnostic use, SOT uses traditional chiropractic manipulation alongside cranial techniques and gentle mobilisation. This means it can be highly effective in everyone from weight lifters and elite athletes to young children and elderly patients with osteoporosis.

Both Martin and Verity are fully trained in dry needling (a western form of acupuncture) and this is a highly effective additional treatment, especially useful in addressing muscle tension and trigger points.

As part of our ethos to provide the best care for our patients, we have developed a network of therapists in the community with whom we work closely. Rehabilitation is an important factor in recovery and we are delighted to be involved in the fitness community in Basingstoke and North Hants.

Both Martin and Verity are registered with the General Chiropractic Council and members of the British Chiropractic Association and Royal College of Chiropractors.
